Kathmandu to Pokhara
Kathmandu → Mugling → Dumre → Pokhara
Depart Kathmandu and ride the Prithvi Highway via Mugling and Dumre to Pokhara.
A 700 km motorbike pilgrimage up the world's deepest gorge to the eternal flame of Muktinath Temple.
One of Nepal's classic long-distance motorbike routes: from Kathmandu to one of the subcontinent's most sacred pilgrimage sites, up the Kali Gandaki — the world's deepest gorge — through apple-orchard villages and windswept high desert, to the 108 water spouts and eternal flame of Muktinath Temple at 3,800 m.
The ride covers roughly 700 km over five days, following the Prithvi Highway to Pokhara before turning north up the Kali Gandaki Valley, the route long used by salt traders moving between Tibet and the Nepali lowlands. Each day builds toward Muktinath: the valley narrows and the road roughens as elevation climbs, passing through Beni, Tatopani, Ghasa, and the apple orchards of Marpha before reaching Jomsom and the high desert approach to Muktinath itself. The return retraces the same route, giving riders a second look at terrain that changes meaningfully with the light and the direction of travel.
